Gerhard studied Chemistry and Physics at Phillips University, Marburg, Germany, where he earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Utah, USA, he joined the pharmaceutical industry in 1985, where he held positions in drug development at multinational companies in different countries. After serving as Head of the laboratory for drug metabolism at Hoechst AG, Germany, Gerhard became Head of the ADME-section for Novartis Pharma, Switzerland. In 2008, he became Head of DvDMPK (Cancer, Anti-Infectives) for Astrazeneca, UK and then served as Department Head, Drug Metabolism, for Lundbeck Pharma, Denmark. Gerhard served as Head of Early Drug Development at Janssen Pharma, Belgium, from 2013 to 2016. He has been working with Biozeus as a consultant since the beginning and has joined the company end of 2016 as Development Leader and lives now in Brazil.
